Chevron

Chevron Corporation (Chevron), incorporated on January 27, 1926, manages its investments in subsidiaries and affiliates, and provides administrative, financial, management and technology support to the United States and international subsidiaries that engage in integrated energy and chemicals operations. The Company operates through two business segments: Upstream and Downstream. Upstream operations consist primarily of exploring for, developing and producing crude oil and natural gas; liquefaction, transportation and regasification associated with liquefied natural gas (LNG); transporting crude oil by international oil export pipelines; processing, transporting, storage and marketing of natural gas, and a gas-to-liquids plant. Downstream operations consist primarily of refining of crude oil into petroleum products; marketing of crude oil and refined products; transporting of crude oil and refined products by pipeline, marine vessel, motor equipment and rail car, and manufacturing and marketing of commodity petrochemicals, plastics for industrial uses, and fuel and lubricant additives.

Exxon

Exxon Mobil Corporation, incorporated on August 5, 1882, is engaged in energy business. The Company is engaged in the exploration, production, transportation and sale of crude oil and natural gas, and the manufacture, transportation and sale of petroleum products. The Company also manufactures and markets commodity petrochemicals, including olefins, aromatics, polyethylene and polypropylene plastics, and a range of specialty products. The Company’s segments include Upstream, Downstream, Chemical, and Corporate and Financing. The Upstream segment operates to explore for and produce crude oil and natural gas. The Downstream operates to manufacture and sell petroleum products. The Chemical segment operates to manufacture and sell petrochemicals. The Company has exploration and development activities in projects located in the United States, Canada/South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia/Oceania.

United States

As of December 31, 2016, the Company had exploration and development activities in areas onshore and offshore in the lower 48 states of the United States and in Alaska. Its development activities focus on liquids-rich opportunities in the onshore United States, primarily in the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico, the Bakken oil play in North Dakota and Montana. In addition, gas development activities are in the Marcellus Shale of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, the Utica Shale of Ohio and the Haynesville Shale of East Texas and Louisiana. As of December 31, 2016, the Company’s acreage holdings totaled 12.9 million net acres, of which 1.0 million net acres were offshore. During the fiscal year ended December 31, 2016 (fiscal 2016), a total of 1.6 net exploration and development wells were completed. As of December 31, 2016, the Company’s net acreage in the Gulf of Mexico was 0.9 million acres. As of December 31, 2016, a total of 14.0 net development wells completed in Alaska. The Company holds interest in Julia project and Heidelberg project.
